About the course

Apnea International Instructor Course – Sri Lanka This Instructor Course is certified by Apnea International, a leading name in freediving education worldwide. Designed for experienced freedivers ready to go pro, this 9-day course includes 7 days of training and 2 days of assessment. It takes place on the south coast of Sri Lanka—offering warm waters, calm seas, and perfect conditions for both pool and ocean sessions. Dates are scheduled for April 2025 (exact dates TBA). What You Will Learn: This intensive course prepares you to teach freediving at a high standard. Topics include: teaching methodology—how to lead theory and water sessions; ethics—professional responsibilities and safety culture; physiology and anatomy—how the body adapts to depth and breath-holding; technique and error correction—identifying and coaching common mistakes; freediving psychology—mental coaching and fear management; breathing techniques—optimizing performance and recovery; goal setting—helping students progress with structure. Course Format: Classroom lectures on essential scientific and instructional topics; pool sessions to practice teaching, safety protocols, and coaching techniques; ocean simulations that mimic real-world freediving instruction. Certification: Graduates will be certified to teach Apnea International Stage A and B courses, plus the B4s Survival Freediving Program. Entry Requirements: Apnea International Stage C certification (or equivalent from AIDA, SSI, Molchanovs); valid First Aid and CPR certification; minimum age of 21; and a current medical certificate confirming fitness to freedive. Performance Requirements: 40m Constant Weight Bi-Fins (CWTB); 40m Free Immersion (FIM); 100m Dynamic Bi-Fins (DYNB); 50m Dynamic No Fins (DNF); 20m Constant No Fins (CNF); 4-minute Static Breath Hold. Rescue Requirements: 20m standby rescue with a rescue hang; 25m blackout rescue with 50m tow and rescue breaths; five 20m dives with 1-minute surface intervals; and deep rescue with a pulley system. If YOU have to cancel: We understand things happen and you may have to change your plans. Please contact Niro as soon as possible on +972 503310080. If you cancel 7 days prior to the session or course date: full deposit refund will be given. If you cancel less than 7 days prior to the session or course: we will give you a voucher for the deposit value of the training or course to use at another time. The vouchers are transferable and have a 365 day validity. If WE have to cancel: We are based in wonderful, wild Sri Lanka and unfortunately the conditions do not always play ball. We will always try to give you as much notice as possible but sometimes unpredicted things happen. If we have to cancel, you have a few options: You can reschedule to another course or training date Get a voucher for the deposit amount to use at another time Get a full deposit refund as the weather/conditions are the one thing we can’t control and we want you to have the best possible experience. Freediving Sri Lanka reserves the right to deliver the full L2 AIDA freediving course over 2 days (instead of the advertised 3 days) in the instance that a course has fewer than 3 participants. In this circumstance there is no change to course content.
